Plain Pressed Tofu

Also Called

plain dried tofu

Usage

as an ingredient for cooking, especially in curing, sautéing, deep-frying, braising, simmering, and smothering methods

Description

The manufacturing process of plain pressed tofu is similar to that of regular tofu. The main distinction between these two is that the dehydration rate of pressed tofu is higher. Ultimately, compared to regular tofu, pressed tofu, with a much lower water content, is smaller and thinner, with a harder and tougher texture. Hence, it is easier to handle during transportation and preparation.
