Description

The dark soy sauce, known as lǎochōu in Chinese, is produced by adding caramel color and other additives to light soy sauce. Its taste is not as salty as light soy sauce but slightly sweeter. With a darker color than light soy sauce, appearing as dark brown, it easily imparts its rich hue to dishes. It is a crucial ingredient in Chinese red-braised dishes.
